The Gregg is a forward-looking, independent school situated to the east of Southampton, with a roll of 350 boys and girls aged 11-16.  Small class sizes provide an excellent learning environment.

We require a dynamic, full-time Teacher of English to work with the head of department to secure outstanding outcomes for students across these key subject areas. The successful candidate will join a of five colleagues who benefit from working in a dedicated suite of modern purpose-built rooms.

We are seeking to employ a teacher of Physical Education required for January 2025.

We require a suitably qualified full-time teacher of Physical Education to join our high performing team. The successful candidate will teach PE across all year groups and will also take an active part in the school’s extra-curricular activities programme. (The ability to teach Netball will be an advantage).

INITIAL TEACHER TRAINING (PGCE)

Are you interested in training to become a qualified teacher? We regularly offer training places through our partnership with the University of Southampton Education School.

MINIBUS DRIVER

The Gregg School has a fleet of 24 mini buses that transport most of the students to and from School. We have a few potential roles for interested applicants who have D1 on their driving licence:

  • Term Time Driver bringing students into school and taking them home after school
  • Term time possible job share
  • Zero hour bank drivers to work when they are available to cover driver absence

There is the opportunity to pick up extra hours by offering to be the driver for trips, visits, PE and sport events, as well as off-site after school clubs. We also welcome drivers to help during school holidays with bus maintenance and taking the buses for safety check, repairs etc. Also, if you have a skill like decorating, laying slabs for pavements, plastering or general maintentnace, please do let us know of your skills and availability. We are proud of our happy and friendly working environment with all teams helping each other out.

Duties include:

  • The transportation of students on a designated route to and from school
  • To ensure the safety of all students travelling on the minibus and to ensure all are wearing seat belts
  • To ensure the minibus is maintained in a safe and roadworthy condition as required by law and the Head of Facilities
  • To carry out all the legal pre driving checks of the minibus and complete log
  • To advise the Transport Manager of any issue occurring on the minibus during transporting of students or any damage after a drive
  • To advise the Transport Manager of any mechanical issue in respect of the minibus
  • To advise the Head of Facilities of any medical issue that would prevent the driver being able to drive
  • To keep the inside of the designated minibus clean and tidy
  • To ensure the designated minibus has adequate fuel to complete each journey and enough should the minibus be needed during the day by the school
  • Any other duties (appropriate to the post) at the direction of the Bursar or Head of Facilities or Transport Manager
  • Promote and represent the school in a positive manner
  • The post holder has a responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of students and young persons for whom she / he is responsible, or with whom she / he comes into contact . She/he will need to adhere to and ensure compliance with the school's Child Protection Policy at all times.

CLEANERS

The Gregg School is looking to appoint a reliable and effective Cleaner to join our friendly and hardworking team to keep the school in a clean and hygienic condition.

Understanding of COSHH and safe working practices desirable.

Job Description

This position is a 52 week job, apart from the 5 Days Christmas Closure the remaining 15 day paid holiday can be taken to suit any time of the year.

  • Hour of work: 4-6pm term time. During school holidays hours can be flexed/blocked by agreement.
